Crypto-Investigations as a New Channel for Abuse of Power: Using Digital Analytics for Extrajudicial Pressure
Published: February 2, 2026
Author: Khrabrykh S. A.

This report provides a critical analysis of how cryptocurrency investigations are being used as a tool for undue pressure and political persecution. The research reveals mechanisms where on-chain analytics serve as a pretext for arbitrary asset freezes and blackmail without proper judicial oversight. The author details the problem of “analytical arbitrariness,” where the findings of private companies are accepted by state agencies as indisputable facts, depriving market participants of their right to an effective defense. Special emphasis is placed on the risks of using digital footprints to fabricate cases and the necessity of creating independent audit mechanisms for crypto-investigations to prevent systemic abuses in the digital environment.
